Can my friends participate?
Any student, staff, faculty, administrator, or guardian who is part of the Joel P. Jensen Middle School community may participate. You and your friend could even read the same book!
I feel like I don't have time to read. What should I do?
Carry a book with you all the time. It's good to read for 15-20 minutes in one sitting. This is about how long a TV show is. Reading in the car or bus is a good way to sneak a few pages. You might also read during class IF you have extra time. Many people (including me) prefer to read as right before they go to bed.
Can I read more than 25 books?
Absolutely! Make sure you continue keeping track of your reading. We will giving special recognition to the student who reads the most books!
Where is my closest library?
Joel P. Jensen has an amazing library full of books that are leveled by lexile level. If you aren’t able to use the school library, the public library is your next best option. The public library closest to our school is the West Jordan Library near Viridian Park. It is located at 8020 South 1825 West in West Jordan.
What about digital texts?
What about them? Reading with a digital device is a good way to practice digital literacy! Many people read using their phones, Kindles, tablets, and desktop computers.
What if I forget to read?

Do I have to read the whole thing?
Yes, yes you do.
Why should I take on the 25 Book Challenge?
Reading is rewarding and is a skill you will use all your life. Reading builds vocabulary and enhances your ability to understand the world around you. Reading helps you build knowledge, explore the world, and experience different perspectives. Reading outside of school will make you a better student and a more well-rounded individual. Don’t expect reading to be easy, it’s not! But, completing a difficult task can be extremely satisfying and, in this case, may help you in achieving your long-term goals!
